Eminem & Rihanna Make A Big Announcement - Eminem and Rihanna have created amazing tracks together including ‘Love The Way You Lie’ and ‘Monster.’ Their chemistry is so great that they plan on bringing it to the big stage. Over the weekend they announced that they will be going out on a three-city tour starting in August. The two will take their show to New York City, Detroit and Los Angeles. Damn no Philly. :( Tickets to this show are definitely going to be a HOT item.  No specific dates have been announced. Rihanna spoke about working with Eminem and said, “The moment I worked with him on ‘Love the Way You Lie,’ I wanted to work with him again, and we did ‘Love the Way You Lie Part 2…And then I wanted to work with him again. I just love working with Eminem. He’s just one of my favorite rappers, and his lyrics—he’s a true poet, and I enjoy that about him. For this song, I needed someone with not only his skill, but his personality. And I needed someone who really understands the perspective and the metaphor in the song of going numb and being numb to everything around and to say, ‘F*** you.’ Eminem is definitely the perfect guy for that.”

Jason Collins Becomes First Openly Gay Player - Last week 35 year old Jason Collins was working out with the Nets. This week he is a signed player. 10 months after announcing that he is gay- becoming the first NBA player to do – Jason Collins has signed a contract with the Brooklyn Nets. Yesterday he signed a 10-day deal and suited up to play against the Lakers just a few hours after making it official. Before the game Collins said, “Right now, I’m focused on trying to learn the plays, the game plan assignment…I don’t have time to really think about history right now.” This is probably because he got word of the deal Sunday morning, signed the contract, took his physical Sunday afternoon and was on the court last night. The Nets will decide whether to keep him or release him after the 10 days. Last night he played for 10 minutes, was scoreless and had 2 blocks.

NFL To Penalize For Use Of Racial Slur - The Fritz Pollard Alliance, which is in charge of diversity in the NFL, has plans to implement a new rule that could monitors what players say on the field. According to reports, players who use racial slurs on the field could be penalized 15 yards. Second time offenders will be ejected from the game. If everything goes as planned the rule will be instated next month and presented to team owners. Ozzie Newsome, the general manger of the Ravens said, “We did talk about it, I'm sure that you saw near the end of the year that Fritz Pollard (Alliance) came out very strong with the message that the league needs to do something about the language on the field.” The committee is also working to get other offensive slurs banned including homophobic slurs. In addition to monitoring the language on the field the committee is hoping to get these slurs banned from all aspects from the game including the parking lot, equipment rooms and locker rooms. The general manager of the team said, “The decision to sign Jason was a basketball decision…We needed to increase our depth inside, and with his experience and size, we felt he was the right choice for a 10-day contract.”

Michael Sam Does First Interview - Michael Sam, the Missouri football player who announced that he is gay two weeks ago spoke at the NFL scouting combine on Saturday. Even though Sam is slated to be a mid to late round pick there was still a lot of anticipation surrounding his press conference. He handled the questions gracefully and told reporters, “ I just wish you guys would see me as Michael Sam the football player instead of Michael Sam the gay football player." However, he did wear a rainbow pin with the slogan “Stand With Sam.” He went on to say how he has been surprised and is very appreciative by the outpouring of support. Sam told the crowd that he doesn’t feel like a “trailblazer” for coming out as gay and just feels like himself - a football play focused on the combine preparing to get drafted. When questioned at the combine about whether he feared facing homophobic slurs on the field he said, “You know, I’ve been in locker rooms with all kinds of slurs being said…“And I don’t think anyone means it. ... As time goes on, everyone will adapt. If someone wants to call me a name, I’ll have a conversation with that guy and hopefully it won’t lead to nothing else.” He revealed that his interviews with teams so far have been focused on football and that he hasn’t been asked about his orientation. In addition to all of the sexuality questions reporters did thankfully ask him about the game, his position and where he thinks he fits in with an NFL team.

Mexican Druglord Caught - Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman was captured on Saturday after 13 years on the run. People are  calling for him to be tried in the U.S., but it remains to be seen if Mexico will agree, or will want to try him at home. Guzman headed Mexico's most powerful drug organization and a key player in the years of violence that has killed tens of thousands of people since 2006. He has been indicted in at least seven U.S. federal district courts on charges including smuggling drugs into the U.S. and participating in an ongoing criminal enterprise involving murder and racketeering. Although Guzman was convicted in Mexico in 1993, he served less than half of his 20-year sentence before escaping in 2001. Guzman was arrested by Mexican federal forces with the help of the United States DEA, the U.S. Marshal Service and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
